Event Description
Author Brian W Lavery leads a talk about Lillian Bilocca and the Headscarf Revolutionaries.His book on the subject has received widespread acclaim. After the Hull triple trawler tragedy in 1968, Bilocca and her followers campaigned successfully for changes to the law to make the fishing industry safer. Brian W Lavery has worked in journalism and broadcasting and has published both fiction and non-fiction. He lectures in journalism and creative writing at the University of Leeds Lifelong Learning Centre.
