Adrian Wilkinson, Archivist, Lincs Inspire, said: "This exhibition will chart the history of the local retail sector from the Victorian period until the early years of the 21st century. Come along and find out more about some of the area’s well-known retailers, including Guy & Smith, Albert Gait, Boyes, and the Monkey, Pig and Pie Shop.
"Learn about some interesting and unusual stories, including the department store that was terrorised by squirrels, a fight between two neighbouring hardware dealers on Freeman Street, and the Grimsby chemist who claimed that a bottle of his “restorer” could return grey hair back to its original colour within 6 days!"
