Fabulous Fayre for Older People
A focus on wellbeing sees a host of North East Lincolnshire organisations join forces to shine a light on the support available for older people, although everyone is welcome!
The free event – Older People’s Wellbeing Fayre – takes place on Sunday, October 1, from 10am to 3pm at Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre (Grimsby Leisure Centre original site), forming part of wider celebrations marking International Day of Older Persons.
There will be information, activities and taster sessions aimed at people aged over 50, with the view to encouraging an active, healthy and happy community.
“This is a great opportunity for a wide variety of services to come together and showcase what they offer. We have an action-packed line up, promising to be both informative but most importantly fun! Come along and see for yourself!”
Organiser & Health Improvement Coordinator, Ian Shorley-Harlow
Free taster sessions include:
- 10:30am to 11am – Senior Dance – fun and easy to follow dance moves.
- 11:30am to 12 noon – Chair Based Yoga – low impact exercise suitable for a range of mobilities.
- 12:30pm to 1pm – Chorus & a Cuppa – a singalong to a medley of songs spanning the decades.
As well as walking netball, walking football and tours of the Wellness Hub and the specialist power-assisted exercise equipment it houses throughout the day.
Local organisations have also been generous in their donation of prizes for a raffle, with proceeds being donated to local charities.
Stage Door Café next door at Grimsby Auditorium will be open throughout the fayre for refreshments and light snacks.
Entry is completely FREE and everyone is welcome including older people, their families and carers.
Any local providers of support services for older people, who would like to express an interest in attending, can email ian.shorley-harlow@lincsinspire.com.
