Included within the umbrella term of Metabolic Conditions are Diabetes, Obesity, Thyroid Disorders and Osteoporosis. Healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, as well as keeping the mind active through reading and socialising are beneficial in helping to manage these conditions.
Disability Sports
Lincs Inspire’s Sports Development Team run weekly sports and activity sessions for all ages and abilities in partnership with the Care Plus Group Learning Disability Team. Qualified coaches and practitioners lead inclusive multi-sports, swimming and basketball sessions.
Active Forever
Our GP referral wellness programme supporting people to make the first steps to leading a more active lifestyle.
Activities can include gym, swimming and Wellness Hub sessions, as well as fitness classes, such as low impact circuits.
Large Print & Audiobooks
Lincs Inspire Libraries offer a number of services to ensure people with sight loss are still able to access books, resources and activity groups. These include:
A vast range of titles available for free in audiobook format or large print
Advanced catalogue search, providing the ability to search the catalogue by media type
A free monthly Listening Book Group at Grimsby Central Library
Low Impact Circuits
Low Impact Circuits are a mix of low impact exercises tailored for people who are managing a long term health conditions or are recovering from injury.
They combine short bursts of 60 second activities to strengthen the muscles along with aerobic exercise to raise the heart rate.
