An Audience Without Alan Bennett – Theatre

Event Description

A Chip In The Sugar Bowl

The first part of this evening’s entertainment is brought to you by Norman Dunnington performing A Chip In The Sugar Bowl.

Norman will perform an Alan Bennett monologue, which was part of the acclaimed Talking Heads series on television in 1987. This particular item was performed by Alan Bennett himself.

Norman plays Graham, a middle-aged man who lives with his mother, finds her taking up with old flame Mr Turnbull.

Norman is a member of Caxton Players in Grimsby, having returned to his home town after leaving in 1956 for a 30-year career in the RAF, followed by further travels around the world.

An Audience Without Alan Bennett

On the same evening you are invited to enjoy readings, video clips and entertainment to celebrate the publication of Keeping On Keeping On – Alan Bennett’s third collection of prose.

Joseph Parfrement Parkes is playing Alan Bennett and will perform and read diary entries from 2005 – 2016 - reflecting on a decade that saw four major theatre premieres and the films of The History Boys and The Lady in the Van.
