Commitment and consistency rewarded in May. Jillian Musson’s incredible weight loss journey is inspiration to others.
Jillian Musson is May’s Member of the Month! Jillian has lost an incredible two and a half stone after joining our Weight Management programme and now exercises daily at the Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre.
Jillian, aged 73, is inspiration to others who are looking to lose weight and make positive changes to their health and wellbeing. And what’s more, she is amazed at how easy it has been compared to other weight loss schemes she has tried in the past.
“The Weight Management classes made me realise that losing weight is a lot easier than you think! Once you’ve got the principles [taught in the classes] in your head, it stays.
“The course teaches you how to control what you’re eating and the calorie content of foods. With other weight loss programmes, they tell you that certain foods are ‘free’, but that’s not the case! Everything counts, even salad and vegetables.”
Jillian completed her course in April this year and continues to follow all the guidance taught by David during the 8-week course. She even continues to check in for weekly optional weigh-ins, which are helping her to stay on track.

The Weight Management courses combine weekly classroom sessions along with activity vouchers, which Jillian put to great use. She continues to visit the leisure centre daily, using the power assisted exercise equipment in Grimsby’s Health & Wellbeing Centre.
When Jillian was 56 she suffered a stroke. In more recent years she has had two knee replacements and back surgery. The power-assisted exercise equipment offers a gentle form of exercise perfect for Jillian. In the coming weeks Jillian is having further knee surgery but thanks to her recent weight loss and exercise, she has the confidence in being able to get back to the leisure centre when she’s ready.
Jillian said: “I do the seated exercises Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. And on a Monday and a Friday lunch time, I come to the chair-based exercise classes with Jody, which I love. It’s social as well as everything else. And mentally, I think it does you good just to get out the house and talk to other people. I’m so pleased I started.”
