CRY Fun Run FAQs
This CRY Fun Run is for all the family.
There are three distances to choose from, catering for everyone from toddlers taking part in their first run, to more experienced runners.
We encourage parents and grandparents to enter and run alongside their children.
Everyone running needs to sign-up and all runners receive a medal.
The CRY Fun Run takes place on Sunday, 28th September.
At King George V Stadium. The CRY Fun Run takes place on the same day as our Family Fun Day.
The Fun Run is raising money to bring a cardiac screening event to Grimsby.
Lincs Inspire is delighted to be backing this campaign, which was launched in May 2025 by a local family who lost their daughter – Josephine Chatterton – to Sudden Cardiac Death. Jo had an undiagnosed heart condition that would have been picked up with a screening.
To mark what would have been Jo’s 50th year, her family has launched an awareness campaign to prevent similar tragedies. They have joined forces with the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to raise funds for 100 young people to be screened in a special day-long session in North East Lincolnshire.

Every week in the UK, 12 young people (aged 35 and under) die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition. 80% of these deaths will occur with no prior symptoms.
The charity CRY carries out screening events. A simple ECG test can identify any abnormal results. Since CRY was founded in 1995, around 318,000 young people have been tested, identifying more than 1,050 with potentially life-threatening conditions and 3,000 with non-life-threatening which can cause problems in later life, if not monitored or treated.
The local screening event will take place at the Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre – a date will soon be confirmed.
