Healthy Weight Management

An 8-week programme supporting healthy weight loss and management through a combination of classroom sessions and physical activity.

Available for both members and non-members and part-funded by Sport England.

NEW Courses for 2025

Lincs Inspire is excited to deliver new courses starting in early 2025 to support residents live healthier and happier by:

  • Eating Well
  • Moving More
  • Taking Charge

Weekly classroom sessions for practical advice and information along with plenty of encouragement, support, and guidance from our trained wellbeing coaches. The course also includes 16 activity vouchers to use across a range of our leisure services to help you take charge and move more.

The 8-week Healthy Weight Management Programme costs £30 per person. The price includes:

  • 8 Classroom sessions and leisure activities as per membership terms
    For existing Lincs Inspire subscription members
  • 8 Classroom sessions and 16 activity sessions
    For new customers / non-members

Combined Exercise

The 8-week Healthy Weight Management course is most effective when combined with a suitable physical activity programme. Therefore the programme includes 16 activity vouchers to use during the 8 week programme, across a range of leisure services.

Lincs Inspire is very well positioned to offer you a wide variety of exercise options that are suited to you, and also provide a welcome social element to the programme, where you can meet like minded people.

Exercise options include:

  • Use of power-assisted therapy equipment in the Wellness Hub.
  • Gym sessions in any of our four gyms
  • Use of specialist adapted gym equipment at Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre
  • Swimming at any of our three pools
  • Exercise classes across any of our four leisure sites
  • Fitness sessions in the community, such as Tai Chi, Kurling and Low Impact Zumba

All of the options available to you will be discussed in your first classroom session.

Eligibility criteria

To attend you must meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 18+
  • BMI of 25 or more (or a lower BMI of 23 or more for adults of South Asian, Chinese and Black ethnicities)

The programme is suited to those people who are preparing for joint replacement surgery and to help the rebuilding of strength and mobility post-operation. It is also available to those who are looking for a friendly and motivating group to support them on healthy weight loss.

There is no need to be an existing Lincs Inspire member to join the programme.

If you have completed the Lincs Inspire Weight Management programme previously, you are welcome to join one of our new programmes in 2025.

Exclusion Criteria

If you fall into any of the following categories we ask that you contact your GP for advice:

  • Are currently on the National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP), Low Calorie Diet programme
  • Pregnant women (but not post-partum)

Overall the biggest impact the course this has had is not only on my weight, the inches lost or how I see food but my mental health. I’ve gone from being very pessimistic feeling defeated, miserable, having low self esteem and no confidence to now being very optimistic fully motivated, more confident and bursting with energy and finally feeling confident in my own body. My family and friends are amazed at my transformation and say I’m completely different person to who I was when I stepped through the door 12 weeks ago. This course has been a lifesaver for me and I’m now fully embracing and enjoying the new healthy lifestyle change & can’t wait too see what the future holds.
