Celebrating Volunteers’ Week

Special volunteer celebration and recruitment event for National Volunteering Week (1-7 June)

Residents in North East Lincolnshire are invited to discover how they can make a positive difference in the community at a special volunteering celebration and recruitment event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet volunteers, hear about their experiences, and find out more about the wide range of volunteering opportunities available.

The event will celebrate the valuable contribution volunteers make across local wellbeing and leisure services, recognising the dedication of community role models who help support people of all ages and backgrounds.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate our volunteers, who selflessly give their time and energy to make a difference. Whether you’re looking to gain experience, meet new people, give back to your local area, or simply try something new, there are opportunities to suit a range of interests and availability. Come along, have a cuppa and a chat and see how you can get involved.

Wayne Pendergast, Volunteer Coordinator, Lincs Inspire

Volunteer opportunities with Lincs Inspire include:

  • Meeting and greeting leisure centre members, who might be anxious visiting.
  • Supporting wellbeing initiatives, such as weight management and GP referral schemes.
  • Assisting at community events.
  • Supporting activities, such as Disability Sports, Walking Football and Walking Netball.

The event will be held at Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre (original Grimsby Leisure Centre) on Wednesday, June 3 from 11am to 2pm.

The Lincs Inspire volunteer programme has been made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.
