Ravenser Odd – Exhibition

Event Description

The exhibition, Ravenser Odd: The Sunken Island of the Humber, delves into the history and folklore of the short-lived medieval town, which rose to wealth before being accused of piracy and stealing trade from its neighbours along the Humber.

The tour kicked off in September 2024 at Spurn Discovery Centre and made its way to Withernsea Library, where it was displayed until December. The response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors calling the exhibition “fascinating and informative.”

Due to popular demand, the exhibition returns to Cleethorpes Library from Monday 2nd June to Thursday 28th August, during normal opening hours.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Hull Maritime Museum, The National Archives and the University of Sussex.

Free drop in flag-making workshops also being run in collaboration with Square Peg Hull, as well as a talk from Emily Robinson from the University of Sussex. More details to follow.
