Sixteen Trees
Event Description
A brand-new, true crime drama by Cleethorpes based playwright Andy Evans. In 1975, eleven-year-old Lesley Molseed disappeared on the way to the shops to buy some bread. Three days later, her body was found dumped on moorland with twelve stab wounds and evidence of abuse. The police focussed their attention on capturing the murderer. Twenty-three-year-old Stefan Kiszko was arrested, tried and found guilty of her murder then sentenced to life imprisonment.
The only problem was, he did not commit the crime and the police failed to disclose evidence at the time which they knew exonerated Kiszko but they let him face prison and abuse for sixteen years in order to save face in the investigation.
Stefan’s mother Charlotte, campaigned tirelessly for an appeal and a declaration of Stefan’s innocence.
Sixteen Trees tells the story from Stefan and Charlotte’s perspectives, that led to his eventual release and the exposure of one of Britain’s most tragic miscarriages of justice.
This brand-new, true crime drama will be an intense experience from Breakwater Theatre Company for one-night-only. Don’t miss it!
