National Lottery Grant to Support Active Lifestyles
Lincs Inspire celebrates after receiving £324k of National Lottery funding to support active lifestyles
Residents living in North East Lincolnshire are being supported to find ways to stay active for their physical, social and mental wellbeing.
Lincs Inspire has been awarded £324,454 over three years from the National Lottery Community Fund to help those who are living with a long-term medical condition, disability, or age-related mobility challenges.
Eligible residents will be encouraged to access the charitable trust’s established ‘Active Forever’ programme, along with new services designed to help those most at need.
Ben Frary, Lincs Inspire’s Health Improvement Manager, said:
The physical benefits of activity when living with a health condition are profound, and the social and mental impact can be transformative. Getting out, socialising, meeting other people in similar situations and talking to our wonderful staff can’t be underestimated.
Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to support our residents to access our ‘Active Forever’ wellness scheme – a 12-week health referral programme, which has already helped thousands of people living with health conditions to become more active.
Regular physical activity can help those living with a health condition manage their symptoms more effectively and improve their mental wellbeing. It can lead to other benefits such as lower medication use, reduced pain, and an improved overall quality of life.
However, we know there are barriers preventing people from taking the steps to a more active lifestyle. Therefore, we are incredibly grateful for this funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which will be used to support and encourage those people most in need to become, and stay, active.”

Mr Frary added:
If you would like to find out more about how we can support you, please come along. Or please share the details with someone in need.

Over 50s Circuits
- Provide subsidised access to the ‘Active Forever’ programme for eligible residents (subject to medical referral).
- Develop a new programme of low cost, low impact exercise classes and social activities. This is a transitional programme supporting people who have participated in the ‘Active Forever’ programme and enabling them to enjoy more mainstream activities. The programme is offered 5 days per week with morning and afternoon sessions
- Introduce a new buddying programme where those with lived experience can volunteer their energy and understanding to bring inspiration and hope to those who need it. This programme focuses on supporting adults leaving hospital or living alone, where access to exercise would be beneficial
- We don’t want customers to be nervous about stepping into a leisure facility, so we are also developing virtual tours, aimed at building knowledge and confidence, giving customers a better understanding of our centre’s features, layout and the services and activities available to support them.
