Old Clee Exhibition
A historically important area of the town in set to be the focus of a free exhibition, which will pay tribute to those who served in both World Wars.
North East Lincolnshire Archives invite members of the public to discover the rich history of Old Clee and Carr Lane from Saxon times to the early years of the 21st century.
The exhibition will look at the impact of both World Wars on the area and pay tribute to the men who are commemorated on the war memorial in Old Clee Church.
Visitors will be able browse historic photos of Clee National School and the picturesque 19th century cottages that give the village much of its character. Other schools to feature include Carr Lane/Havelock and Clee (Humberstone) Foundation School, as well as local shops and businesses.
The display will also shed light on some of the interesting characters connected with the area, including an Edwardian lady who was arrested for shouting and brawling, the wagoner who served with the Machine Gun Corps in the First World War, and the teenager who lost his life on HMS Hood.
