Grimsby Connection Inspires Novel

Local history enthusiasts and murder mystery fans are invited to an author talk at Cleethorpes Library by novelist Peter Tickler.

Peter is the great grandson of T G Tickler, who founded Grimsby’s Tickler’s Jams (1878-1973) – a factory that employed 1,500 people and supplied jams to the troops in the trenches in the First World War.

His family’s legacy and connection to the local area inspired Peter’s latest novel, a thrilling murder mystery titled The Tickler’s Jam Murders.

It features Detective Sergeant Kite who is sent to a country house in Lincolnshire to investigate an explosion that killed a prominent businessman.

Peter has also written several crime novels set in and around Oxford and featuring DI Susan Holden and private eye Doug Mullen.

Peter visits Cleethorpes Library on Friday, October 11, and will talk about his latest book, how he became a writer and will answer questions from the audience. There will also be an opportunity to buy signed copies of his book.

The talk costs £3 per person and can be booked online.
