World Cup Reading Bingo
With football fever building, young readers across North East Lincolnshire are being invited to get behind the game in a different way this summer as Lincs Inspire Libraries launch their World Cup-inspired reading bingo game, Get in the Game: Get Reading.
The free football-themed bingo game encourages children and young people aged up to 16 years old to swap goals on the pitch for goals on the page, discovering new stories, exploring different types of books, and building their reading confidence.
Prizes up for grabs include tabletop football sets, a half term football course pass and cinema tickets courtesy of Parkway Cinemas. Every completed bingo line counts as one entry into the prize draw, while completing a full house scores five entries – giving children even more chances to win.
The game celebrates the excitement of the World Cup while encouraging children across North East Lincolnshire to discover the enjoyment of reading. Young people can take part by borrowing library books, as well as eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines, meaning they can join in wherever they are.
Kim Rothman, Development Officer, Lincs Inspire Libraries said: “Football brings people together through teamwork, passion and shared experiences – and reading can do the same. We’re giving children the chance to take part in the World Cup excitement while discovering new books, characters and stories. Whether they’re already keen readers or just starting out, everyone can join the team.”
The challenge is free to play, and children can pick up their bingo card at any Lincs Inspire Library – Cleethorpes, Grimsby (Freshney Place), Immingham or Waltham from Monday June 29, when accompanied by an adult.
Anyone who is not yet a library member can register for a library card, either online or in a library.
