Ravenser Odd – Flag Making Workshop

Event Description

Ravenser Odd was a short-lived island in the mouth of the River Humber. It rose from the sea in the early 13th century and had sunk beneath the waves again by 1360. Both Ravenser Odd and its neighbour, Hull, gained their charters from Edward I on the same day – April 1st 1299.

Square Peg Hull will host free creative workshops that invite people to explore Ravenser Odd in interactive and fun ways.

Jemma from Square Peg said, "We’ve had a great time delivering workshops with a mix of participants—some who knew about Ravenser Odd, and others who didn’t. It's been a wonderful opportunity to discuss the stories and the creative work on display. We’re always excited to see how people interpret these stories into visuals."

Flag-making workshops inspired by Ravenser Odd will be held at Cleethorpes Library on 12 March, 2-4pm and at Grimsby Library on 12 April, 10am-1pm. These sessions are open to all and require no prior booking, making them ideal for both children and adults.

There is also a Ravenser Odd exhibition taking place at Cleethorpes Library (Wednesday 5th to Monday 31st March) and Grimsby Library (Wednesday 2nd to Wednesday 30th April). The exhibition is a collaboration between Hull Maritime Museum, The National Archives and the University of Sussex.
