A Fond Farewell

Dedicated Fitness Instructor works his final shift after nearly two decades of service, helping countless members on their fitness journeys.

Celebrating Mo's Fitness Career

An emotional day saw colleagues, members and friends gather at Grimsby Leisure Centre to wish Mo Bokta a fond farewell, whilst celebrating the difference he’s made throughout a rewarding career in the leisure industry.

Mo said: “I’ll miss the members, the rapport I’ve built with them and seeing their progression. I’ll also miss working with my colleagues, we’re one big family here and everyone supports each other. Working here has never felt like work, it’s always been something I’ve enjoyed with people I like being around. I’ve been lucky to wake up and want to come to work, which is something a lot of people can’t say they have.”

"An amazing person to work with"

It’s also a particularly sad day for Fitness Supervisor Jenny Jones, who has formed a very close friendship with Mo over the years working together from the old Scartho Baths site to the new Grimsby Pool.

“Mo has been an amazing person to work with. He’s always brought a bounce to the gym with his infectious laugh and endearing smile. I always remember back in the day when he was caught practising his Michael Jackson dance moves in front of the mirrors at Scartho Baths before opening time, when a member walked in mid moon walk! We’re all sad to see him leave, but happy that he’s pursuing his dreams.”

Mo added: “Jen has always been my immediate mentor, friend and colleague and I will deeply miss her support and care over the years she has shown me. I’d like to also thank Darren and all the team at Lincs Inspire as my work has been enjoyable thanks to them.”

Mo now swaps his focus from leisure to catering as he pursues an exciting opportunity renovating the formerly known Halfway House in North Thoresby, in what we hope is the start of a successful and rewarding new chapter for him. He will also continue to work shifts at the leisure centre on a casual basis and train in his personal time.
