A wonderful friendship

Margaret and Sandy have become the best of friends after meeting in our Wellness Hub at Grimsby Health & Wellbeing Centre.

Margaret and Sandy joined the leisure centre earlier this year. They signed up to our 12-week Active Forever referral programme and, despite not knowing each other before, have formed a wonderful friendship whilst exercising in our Wellness Hub.

Sandy, who is 63, was referred to us via Thrive due to back pain and being unable to work.

Speaking about her experience using the Wellness Hub, she said: “I love meeting people and I get on with everybody and have such a laugh. Mags [Margaret] is one special lady and we connected straight away. I love her to bits and it’s like I’ve known her for years!”

Margaret, who is 80 years of age, sadly lost her husband last year and it was her family who encouraged her to join the leisure centre and she hasn’t looked back.

She said: “I’ve met so many friendly people but especially Sandy. We just get on so well. She makes me feel so much better. I have really come out of myself, and I now enjoy getting out and about.”

Both Sandy and Margaret not only use the power assisted equipment in the Wellness Hub, but they also both enjoy using the gym.

Margaret added: “I would recommend anyone who has medical problems, or older people, to come and join us. It does you good!”
