Celebrate Lincolnshire Day
An evening with Rory Waterman and 10,000 images of local history
Lincs Inspire is marking Lincolnshire Day with an author talk at Cleethorpes Library and an invitation to explore one of the region’s richest online photographic archives.
On the eve of Lincolnshire Day, author Rory Waterman comes to Cleethorpes Library to talk about his book Devils in the Details.
The book takes readers on 13 quests into the Lincolnshire landscape, in search of the origins and legacies of England’s forgotten county. It is a journey through the places, stories and oddities that have shaped Lincolnshire, and a fresh look at a county that rarely gets the attention it deserves.
Lawrence Dunn, Library Development Officer, said: “Rory makes his 13 quests on foot, and I’d really encourage people to come along and hear where they took him. A great event for anyone who has ever wondered about the county on their doorstep.”
After the talk, Rory will be signing copies of the book, which will be available to buy courtesy of Waterstones.
Tickets are £3 and the talk takes place on Wednesday, September 30, from 4pm to 4:45pm.

People are often astonished at what they uncover, and how many hours they spend delving into the history on their doorstep.”

The collection covers the whole of historic Lincolnshire, from the earliest days of photography right up to the modern day. Streets, seafronts, shops, ships, schools and long-vanished landmarks are all there to be browsed, and prints can be ordered from the collection.
